I talked to some students previously at a tech school (Ruby on Rails focused) and really enjoyed it. The students seemed to as well. I was scheduled for today and about to leave, but saw the event was canceled. Shortly after I received an email explaining why. I guess some of the students found my blog linked through on SporeStack and felt quite offended with some of my content. The organizer reviewed this content and some of my other postings, and felt the same way.
I had been thinking this might happen for some time. Interesting that it has. I've never been once contacted about my content being offensive. I'm not really surprised though.
I am genuinely curious, can you see any particularly over the top statements or anything that is grossly offensive without some sort of backing? This is my blog, for reference.
It is a struggle knowing how public to be with my beliefs. Generally, I'd rather be genuine and forthcoming. And I do like to write.
I sent back as reasonable of an email as I could come up with, wanting to send something back sort of quickly. Basically offering to discuss with the organizer or students inside or outside of the school context. Could be a bad move, maybe they'll invite me out to Starbucks to all slap me. I have no idea.
Hope you goats are all doing well.
