For some reason crazy people think that if you warn someone of your intent to harm them, regardless of how abstract, than it absolves them of all responsibility. It becomes "your fault" even if the warning is cryptic and impossible to interpret. This allows them to bypass the cognitive dissonance they would otherwise experience when causing harm to others. It's true.

Let's say I planned to break into your home and shoot you. So that morning I leave a letter on the door that only says "tonight" . Well in the Jews mind, it is now your responsibility to defend yourself, ergo I'm not at fault for shooting you, despite the "warning" being meaningless.
