Until you realize it's a city in China named USA and not U.S.A.

Ha ha! That’s an old one... in the 70s the rumor was that a city in Japan was named “Usa”. All imported products have to have a COO designation (country of origin) legally, though, so if it says USA, it’s probably made here.

Not actually far from the truth

Saipan

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saipan (go the economy part)

A island north of Guam won in ww2 is a u.s. territory thats mostly chinese people. It was exempt from u.s. labor laws. So Levis could pay factory workers pennies

As a u.s. territory clothing makers could label stuff "made in the u.s.a."

The gentle-goat has a point.

And this is why we can't have nice things.

Reminds me of how China has a CE logo that looks almost identical to the CE mark in the EU that signifies a product that's been tested for safety. China's version simply means China Export, i.e. this product will likely burn your house down or electrocute you if it doesn't fail first. Never change, China.

Just the tag was made in the USA, not the blanket.

Your hospital probley uses a group purchasing organization (GPO) to contract for supplies including blankets. So you can them (premier, visient, healthtrust) for putting a domestic vendor on contract.

Given the markup, they could probably make it on the moon and still have profit left over.

It's the little things that add up. Those blankets equal a job for at LEAST 10 people, maybe 1000 if it's a nation wide contract.
