Don't confuse "sitting by and hoping for disaster" as an attempt of lettings things steamroll over me. Judging by the "we have faced far worse than this through history..." remark, you clearly have no idea of this day and age we live in. For the first time in recorded history we have a global system of global transportation, global communication, global economy, and a means for global destruction (nuclear, viral, bio, or the slow plundering of this planet as it is now). Yet, we have people that have no idea how to survive and put up a fight anymore, and you still think we might "recover"? I commend you for the optimism. You think you might "do" something by typing this little rant of yours, fighting the system, and I do hope it inspires one other person that sees past this little chat of ours, but do you really think people haven't tried that before? Do you think I haven't tried it? Online, offline, in debates, showing the people closest to me the reality of things? Even going so far as finding and/or figuring out entire solutions in how to fix things to those same problems I brought up before. I could be very communicative and persuasive, but it made no difference. Even now people fail to overcome the impenetrable wall of stupidity of the masses. Friends, family, acquaintances, strangers, dates back in the day, it didn't matter, they all just want to get the new phone, talk about idiols, worry about sports, want to get more money and vote for some virtue signalling leftist fuck because it feels nice and fucks them over in the long run. I know I am trapped in a system that keeps fucking us over, surrounded by dumb virtue signalling apathetic people. Therefore, I am not putting my energy into "saving the world" anymore. All I am doing is laying low, voting for the best option our country has, and conserving my "optimism" for when the times comes in which I need to protect that which I hold dear. That's why I train, prepare and have fun in the meantime... So, don't confuse defeatism with wishful thinking. It's just that I'd rather have a hard-reset at this point than this slow misanthropic drudgery we call life.

But hey, I am truly glad we have people like you. Hope the people around you listen and learn.
