Look, I get it. Free speech is incredibly important, I think we can all agree that us users of voat are here to express our opinions and values in an open exchange without reprucussion. But the reality is, there are social consequences for saying certain things. One consequence is driving away valuable users and posters from other social websites.
I believe that expressing extreme racism in our discussion is both toxic and problematic. Sure, we can talk about immigration reform, and come to an understanding about different cultures, to enrich voat and give it a vibrant community, but outright bigotry? It has no place in any community.
We should do our best to welcome the reddit refugees into our community. Without them voat will not survive. And while I may be hated by many for taking a leading role, it's necessary for voat in its future.
