Did a jewgle search on 'indian inventions' (pro tip: it's not a long list) to see how street shitters stack up.
Lists "flushing toilets" on wikipedia page.
So now I know for sure its straight up make believe.

They used page 161 of the book The Basis of Civilization - Water Science?. After reading that page, no where does it mention the ability to flush.
If I cared about Wikipedia, I would remove that line and point to the fact that nowhere on that page does it mention flushing.
