10 years ago, the parents said "clean your room", and instead of making you clean your room, they went off to their own world, and ignored your lack of integrity; typical liberal parents. Jordan is reminding you that your parents told you to do the right things, but didn't tell you why it was the right thing. The logic behind the parents command is "Because I told you so" which does not satisfy the need for an answer, where as Jordan telling you to clean your room he explains why it will make you a better person with logic and reasoning.

This applies to everything you do; "why is this important?"

A lot of parents didn't tell you to clean your room. Making you do stuff is going to hurt your individuality and freedom and creativity, dontchaknow.

They just let you grow up to be a worthless undisciplined piece of shit special snowflake.

Unfortunately, yes. But it seems some of those young men are realizing there is another way to look at their life choices.

What I hear is a little different: stop being externally directed. What your parents did isn't who you are. Go clean your own damned room.

But knowing why I need to worry about my own room is the reason I will be motivated to do it.

You just can't an authority tell you to do it, otherwise it seems wrong... almost like torture.

And it's not "clean your room", it's "here's why you'll be glad you cleaned your room, would you like to try?"

The self-improvement talk is antithetical to socialist dogma.

I don't know why people feel they can't glean anything from him because he's bluepilled on the JQ.

I think it's more like this is poking fun at the people who only picked up on the usefulness of such a simple obvious life lesson after it was told to them by an internet persona even though they'd heard it from their parents for years. It's not really about Peterson as such.

Can't have people straying from the (((program))) by looking out for themselves can we?

Get hooked on drugs, by frivolous things, degeneracy for the sake of it, etc etc.

it's tough being white. you can't even criticize someone without being called a jew shill. is it because the niggers just unquestionably accept their mongrels despite flaws?

A lot of guys are in a place where Jordans advice can help them. They just need to stop short of worshipping the guy as the savior of masculinity. Like the comic points out, he's just a guy saying stuff that should be obvious

should be obvious

For many people it's not, anymore. Peterson essentially teaches common sense, which has not been common for decades. He explains it, explains why it's (still) valid, and explores why it even exists and is effective.

I grew up with 2 good parents and learned common sense from them. What interests me about Peterson's material is the psychological background to it, tied to neurophysiology and evolutionary biology. I've started watching his series of lectures on the Bible and he shows that the stories have deep truth to them. Regardless of the historical (in)accuracy, the themes are deploy rooted in human existence and experience. One doesn't have to believe in GOD to find meaning in scripture.

No, he's not just a guy saying stuff that should be obvious. It was not obvious for a majority of Canadians that bill c 16 was compelled speech and that it will lead down a terrible path of Communism. The majority of people do not make those jumps of how destructive that bill is. He is doing really great work to correct a generation that has been told their entire life that they shouldn't have to work hard to have the life they want.

All you had to do was clean your room.

He's the strong and stern father figure we all need. He doesn't hit, he explains himself very well. He has authority, and is not a total tool. He didn't wreck our nations with mass immigration and PC Bullshit.

Overall, he's beating most of our fathers in terms of 'why we should listen to him.'
