Better? Maybe not. But greater complexity means much greater value and requires more time, effort, and intelligence to create. No one has to appreciate the more complex music out there, but I think it still demands some level of respect.
Hmmmm, music is an interesting example of this since one could write a complex piece without knowing much about music, but just semi-randomly placing notes on the sheet. That wouldn't demand any level of respect. Now performing such a piece flawlessly(even if it sounded awful) would indeed demand respect, as it would be a feat of skill and determination.

Good point. My thought did imply a certain level of talent.
