Got a new screen protector for my new phone, it showed up yesterday.
Never mind that it didn't fit the screen properly (Galaxy S8+ with the curved 'edge' screen.)
Never mind that the adhesive was less effective than scotch tape, and was only around the very edge of the protector.
Never mind that the glass fit with a 3mm bulge in the center that made tapping / dragging a pain.
Never mind that the hole for the speaker had NO adhesive around it, so repeated tapping results in dust and debris between the screen and the protector which must be cleaned out every so often.
Never mind any of that shit.
Removing the protector to clean out underneath it results in the protector splintering into dozens of jagged shards which MOSTLY stay stuck to the thin adhesive film that I guess is supposed to keep the shards from going all over the desk.
Isn't tempered glass supposed to NOT splinter into long shards, but rather into rice-sized pebbles?
This is the second screen protector we have bought which is advertised as "Tempered glass" but ends up being just regular glass stuck to a thin plastic adhesive sheet.
Did the definition of "Tempered glass" change when I was asleep?

Annealed glass is non-tempered glass. Tempering heat strengthens the glass, but causes it to shatter when chipped.

You're thinking of safety glass. Tempering makes glass stronger and is one of the methods used in creating safety glass
