Once I talked to a liberal friend about this.

I say, "lets pretend things are even worse than you thought possible and day 1 Trump starts rounding up all the gays and brown people to put them into camps. Would you protest?"

He said he would.

"Let's say the police start cracking down on dissent and shooting protestors. Would you take up arms to overthrow and obviously tyrannical government murdering its citizens?"

He said no, because we wouldn't have a chance against the government.

Cuckery is part of who they are. He was a Bernie supporter who ended up voting for Hillary. Fighting the government isn't even an option for people of such weak fortitude.

A lot of people overestimate the actual physical strength of 'the government' and don't realize that more has been taken down with less.

Their main weapon is psychological/division. Sow division and we are frail and helpless.

To be fair, both liberal and conservative run Governments try to make themselves look untouchable so people don't try an overthrow.

One problem is that people see all the nice toys the military has and fail to realize just how many of them are near-worthless for irregular warfare. The B-2's awesome, but it's not exactly the weapon of choice without a definite target. Tanks are heavily armored, but also easy targets if not carefully deployed. And this is all before we take into consideration that any major rebellion would almost certainly get supplies from abroad, including a few fancy toys of their own.

The entire military is only around 2 million strong. Compare that to the 300 million Civilians.

You only need to look at the American government's difficulties with its military operations in the middle east to disprove this. Not to mention there would certainly be defectors from the various armed forces. Guerrilla ambushes would lead to seizure of military grade weapons, which in turn would make future ambushes more successful. Yes, it would be bloody. Yes, many would die. But that's what a revolution is.

There's no 'safe space' for them. The 'government' would be fighting against the people who make their world work. The people who make their food, make sure their tech works, the energy is on, the roads are maintained, who put out the fires, are who they'd be at war with.

Like any insurrection, strong in rural areas, weak in cities.

What's also incredible is still wanting to make the government stronger after thinking they would stand no chance.

Its a value call for them.

Things like personal responsibility, accountability, agency, etc mean very little to them.

They also generally care very little about the concerns of others when those concerns don't align with their own, though I suppose many people can be accused of that.

So when it comes to banning firearms, there is no downside for them. They would never have defended themselves personally or politically anyway.

It's an easy choice with such a mentality; to them any potential benefit of gun control outweighs the perceived complete lack of benefits from the lack thereof.

You could argue, "owning a firearm allows you to defend your family in the event of a break in," which is a solid argument. However, they would never have defended their family anyway, firearm or not. They also don't care if you want the ability to defend your family, so to them, the argument means nothing.

I personally believe many of them "think it through," they're just so morally bankrupt and cowardly, it doesn't matter.

I think that they actually have a good reason for gun control: they wouldn't trust themselves with one. It's a specific case of the more general desire for government control, because they don't trust themselves to lead a disciplined life in general.

US: 101.5 guns per 100 people; 33,636 deaths Japan: 0.6 guns per 100 people; 6 deaths

And countries with monocultures statistically have lower crime rates than those with mixed. And America is the most mixed fucking salad bowl of a nation in the history of mankind. Don't be too quick to cherry-pick correlations from statistics.

Did you forget all the non-gun-suicides in Japan? Or do only deaths by gun count, not other causes?

When incidents like Vegas occur these stats have to be thrown out or adjusted. When the entity we are trying to protect ourselves from allows mass killings to occur, they will turn around and proclaim 'see?'. Its a problem we cannot be misled about. Stand. Your. Ground. On gun rights.

You have to contribute then. Add to the conversations. I just fired up a new account and need to earn my DV rights again. I will do it without asking for it.
