My fedex guy is great. He will carry heavy packages in the house. He gives the doggos biscuits. Maybe because we are out in the boonies.

Yeah, mine just drop my shit off at the nearest post office. They can't find my house very often and it's a ways out. If the PO is closed, they drop it at the store.

If it was in a U-haul, it;s a seasonal hire. They don;t give a flying fuck, the job only last 4 weeks anyways.

I worked at an OfficeMax store and unloaded the truck. I'm surprised any of the printers we sold actually worked.

OfficeMax also didn't palletize anything at the time.

I never got to work with any electronics. I worked at grocery stores where you only had to worry about breaking glass. The main concern is that you'd have to clean it up.

I'm sure that same package was tossed numerous times.

So instead of being mad at them for being completely careless (or intentionally careless, as it were) I should just say, “fuck it?”
Would you say this is “Part and parcel of living in a big city?”

The reality is, as someone who has owned a business that involves shipping various items long distances, it's the responsibility of the shipper to package the items securely enough that they can withstand being treated like that.

While the packages are going through distribution plants, they aren't handed gently from one person to another, they are loaded onto extensive systems of conveyor belts and are literally smacked from one belt to another by spring-loaded mechanical arms based on their barcodes.

If the person who packaged your item can't comfortably throw it down a flight of stairs, then they need to repackage it more securely before shipping it. A gentle toss onto your porch shouldn't make any difference whatsoever, and the driver knows that.
