9th Circuit has ruled that it is legal. https://cdn.ca9.uscourts.gov/datastore/opinions/2016/08/31/14-15700.pdf

The reasoning is that illegal drug users gun rights are not protected (US v Dugan). As long as the federal government has marijuana still illegal then this is perfectly legal. The SC has not ruled on this one, but I am not sure if they will or not. BATF explicitly says that folks with medical marijuana cards are banned from purchasing guns. States are just expanding the US law on gun purchases to gun possession itself.

Quick primer with more info https://archive.fo/4W5a1

EDIT: I get that the 9th is a liberal joke, but their ruling is pretty binding without an appeal to the Supreme Court. And since it has been over a year without word of an appeal I think it may not ever get a ruling in the Supreme Court. Worse yet, the Supreme Court probably won't overturn this either. They have a spotty record when overturning things like this one.

Yup, they give you something (being ALLOWED to use medical plant) so they have to take something away and taking away guns is all they care about besides raising taxes.

You left out race mixing and exterminating fair skinned people of European descent.

They tax the marijuana, and also taint it. Both choices are rigged in their favor.

I'm not a pothead, nor am I a fan of marijuana, but I'm totally on the side of the guy who got this letter and I will defend his right to own his guns as much as any other law abiding citizen. What's next Hawaii? You going to take the guns from anyone who drinks a beer on weekends? What about the guy taking opioids for pain post-surgery? That fucked-up bureaucracy has GOT to stop. We are letting them take our liberties away people, we must stop them while we still have liberties.

I took opioids for two weeks after a TKR. I guess I was somehow temporarily unqualified to own guns? This is the definition of slippery slope.

Prescribed opioids does not disqualify you. Only mental illness and marijuana.

Now you re thinking correctly. I agree

This is why you don't tell your doctor that you own weapons (he doesn't have the need to know and may be a closet gun grabber), enjoy an occasional six-pack (binge drinking), or admit to ever doing drugs. All that shit goes into your electronic medical record (where it can easily be accessed by the BATF) and stays there forever.

ANTI-DEPRESSANTS + GUNS = PROBLEM

CANNABIS + ALCOHOL + GUNS = SOLUTION

What I don't get is the obsession of gun control.

Niggers are responsible for most "murders," not guns. They can murder with knife, or even barehanded. Surely nigger control would be better if you're trying to reduce homicide?

So if that person has glaucoma and treats it with cannabis, they're no longer allowed to own guns?

EDIT: Spelling.

IMHO I believe this is why so many vets are diagnosed with ptsd and then medicated. Likewise with children and adhd diagnoses. TPTB intend to legislate away their gun rights in the future.

We are going through a problem right now in my country where veterans affairs is falsely claiming x-amount of homeless vets. When upon further review we're finding out these people never served or failed their application for one reason or another. I believe similar things happened with people pretending to be draft dodgers only to find out they were Canadian their entire lives. Our legion is also pretty much run by non-vets for non-vets and virtually no one who's active visits the legion. They're supposedly for the vets though or some bullshit.

It's a good thing you "threw" all of your firearms in the "ocean" as tribute to the tiger shark god.

Replace:

Threw - buried

Ocean - neighbors back yard

The courts will certainly decide if this applies. They just refused to overturn a rifle ban law from Maryland. One way or the other they will decide.

Sadly for whoever got this letter, I believe they already have decided and the law is against him.
