Simpsons, South Park and Family guy showed that you can make a shitload of money in animation without actually animating well. Nobody wants to invest money in the visuals-just get a roomful of jokewriters to churnout scripts that we storyboard here and send to Korea to get animated. We created the animation industry here in America, it's a goddamn shame that we let japan make us look like amateurs now.

Some of the older animation looks great. Walt Disney made a lot of videos going into detail about how they animated everything and the techniques used. Here theyre showing off the multi plane camera

Nowadays theyre just lazy, dont care about artistic merit or creating a visually pleasing product.

Walt and Roy Disney really made other individuals in the industry look bad. Now it's not about looking good it's about whatever the writers churn out and animated elsewhere. Pure nepotism and laziness propping up the talentless in an industry that used to take actual talent to be considered on top. If everything in the industry is equally shit and there are only 5 or 6 studios then theres no competition or incentive to make things better

True, we've had some unbeatable classics and I don't want to say we will stop. I just see this garbage-tier stuff and think: "Who decided that this is a good thing?"

It was never about the animation, tho. Watch early Simpsons and it looks like absolute shit. It was always about the writing. Same with Futurama, Beavis and Butthead, and King of the Hill, it doesn't look good now but they still hold up
