OSX is Unix-compliant, but doesn't use the Linux kernel...
I agree that OSX is bullshit, though. Overpriced and overrated. Everything in Apple is like that. ($1000 phone?!!)
Yeah its annoying. I falsely assumed the process would be painless. Boy was i wrong! I've decided to whip up a Linux VM for development purposes. Also one thing I hate about OSX, in the new versions, it will NOT let you install third party dev tools form unidentified developer. It used to be you could toggle the setting permanently. Now you need to go into preferences every-time, under security and toggle the open program dialog, followed by a second confirmation prompt. And then you can load it. The amount of hacks and bullshit on this crap is insane. And all of this simply to install the Boost libs... which took me 2 seconds under a Linux environment. Also fuck XCode, Apple development is as bad as Microsoft. XCode takes up something like 20GB, and 11GB just to download. I thought Apple was all about simplicity, efficiency and cleanliness. Feels like a collection of hacks thrown on top of a 3 decade old kernel, with some pretty glitter on top. Nothing about the process has been easy up to now. You know Apple is going to crap for its development tools when Linux is "easier" to use than OSX. Also seriously, 99$ for a developer license to build on my own fucking local machine with my own devices?
