When I was in college the Man Show was just starting, it was funny. My friends and I would never miss it. Our girlfriends would be there while we were watching it. Girl in bikinis jumping on trampolines. They did a segment to end women's suffrage. We laughed, they rolled their eyes and laughed. He said they would stay on the air until Oprah was off the air.
I can remember from the time I was a kid, late night shows were an event. A big interview, a musical guest, the monologue. There was something to look forward to. It was fun and more importantly it was funny. Carson, Leno, Letterman, they were entertaining.
Now, it's just preaching and screeching and REEing and crying. I wouldn't waste my time to watch Claire McCaskill be interviewed unless it was the good old days when she would be mocked and humiliated by a liberal for being a Senator. Instead now the hosts have their noses so far up their asses you don't know where one ends and another begins.
In all my time on this planet, I can only remember two, truly emotional late nights. The first show after 9/11 and Carson's retirement. Now, every night it seems like they are sniveling and snotting all over themselves.

I never missed the show when it was on. I remember the women's suffrage bit. Another favorite was when they hypnotized the guy to think his penis was inside a box, then a midget dressed as a penis jumped out and ren around as the guy chased him. The guy was not happy that his penis had escaped.

I'm significantly younger, but same here. I watched the man show when i was like 10, it was great testosterone fuel. It was funny, comedy Central was actually funny then. The daily show was awesome, but focused more on comedy.
I think John Stewart saw what was coming when he left the show. He got a little preachy towards the end, but I still really liked that guy.

John Stewart Leiberman was a lefty tool. Anytime someone called him on his bullshit he'd get that stupid smirk on his face, act like a child and say "I'm just a comedian." The height of hypocrisy is pushing an agenda and then hiding behind the label of comedian when you get called out on it. Fuck John Leiberman.
