THEY ARE SCARED.

I like that. A tip for newcomers hailing from England, Sweden and Germany; be smart and use a VPN.

The laws against hate speech are restrictive over there and getting more so. You can be prosecuted and jailed for "viewing extreme right wing news" or what have you.

[–] Tallest_Skil 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

You will go to jail for 15 years if you view right-wing content online in Airstrip One.

Seriously, they just passed that law.

Correct. The UK police are going after people for watching the wrong youtube videos. Glad real crime has been stopped.

Thank God, my neighbors can send their kids to the pool houses again.

Because apparently going on 4chan can get you 15 years in prison in the UK. It's just the beginning of censorship and control and only a matter of time before it trickles down this way.

I don't see them being scared. If anything, they are angry, and will act to shut this down . . .

Don't start building bogeymen until you at least have an inkling of who is trying to scare you.

How strong will @Puttitout be when they come offering him dump trucks full of money, power, ramen noodles?

I can't blame him, I honestly can't, if things eventually go sour. Support all avenues of free speech, we need more than just one beacon.

Some people cannot be bought. PuttItOut is one of them. Everyone thinks that everything has its price, but it is not true.

Weak people, bad people, evil people console themselves with the thoughts that "oh he'll sell out" or "give him enough money and he'll bark like a dog". That's because these bad evil people are already broken. They can't conceive of a world different from the one in which that they live.

They recoil in terror when someone actually stands up for what they believe, because it causes their worldview to shatter and collapse.

So they are very, very, very, very, scared of Voat and what it will do.

What makes Voat so incredibly powerful is Putt's moral infallibility, first and foremost.

[–] Adminstrater 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

That is very true, it takes a very moral person to maintain their values.

Voat has been crypto currency donations only for a few months now. Last time putt posted numbers it cost around $6,000 a month to run voat. There hasn't been any financial updates since before Voat went crypto only. Really you have to wonder where all the money to run the site comes from.

The guy that impresses me is Craig from Craigslist.org. I think he was offered 4 Billion with a B a number of years ago and turned it down.

Putt is a single point of failure for voat. They'll find a way to get to him sooner or later.

If the conspiracy theorists end up being the saviors of truth, I am afraid there is no one that can't be bought, except the next Jesus Christ, himself.

Maybe we should start construction of a 360 hole golf course and a clubhouse with multi-gigabit per second internet, blackjack and hookers serving High Mountain White Peony tea. With a big wall around it the whole thing.

Then we see which wins out. Even if he decides on the Ramen option, at least our backup option is pretty sweet.

Only if it has hot 20-year-old hookers. I'm old and rich and I want my 20-year-old hookers....

I'm considering the theory that we can melt all the ocean's plastic into a floating island, and construct an internet culture based society.

Where is Atko? Why do I only ever see from Putt?

[–] 10689988? 0 points 5 points (+5|-0) ago

Atko took a step back from Voat and made Putt CEO. To my knowledge Atko and Putt still discuss Voat together but for the most part Atko just lurks in the shadows.
