I almost decided to go this route, but there isn't that much information.
In the end, it was IBM hardware and QubesOS or Purism. I went Apple. They've had a history of, at least publicly, telling the gov to fuck themselves. I maintain non-US AV, standard tape over my webcam and I monitor my router firewalls. So far, nothing.
Apple is expensive, but supported and decent. Pay for the extra as a LOT of security professionals still use Apple for their stuff.

Sadly Apple aren't really any better. I'm sure everyone here has heard of the PRISM programme.
That said I've found it difficult to use Qubes and wish they would make it more accessible and user friendly.
