I liked Green Day when I was 7 when the dookie album came out, but as an adult I recognize they're shit.

I was 7 when the Sex Pistols came out.

Johnny Rotten is still the shit.

Green Day sucked. Power pop, nothing more.

In the 80s punk got hijacked by the left.

Green Day is like the Offspring and AC/DC. Every time they sit down to write an album, they write the same album over and over again. It ends where only their very best songs are worth listening to, or maybe a classic album.

Aw c'mon man, Dookie was awesome in its time period. Sure, it wasn't "real" punk, but then again "real" punks LITERALLY cant sing nor play instruments, while green day could do so very well.

I think they just ended up being rich as fuck, and then lived pampered lives, witch then lead to their transition to faggots. Also, there was always a rumor that Billie Joe was homo-gai, witch would also explain things.

Corporate Whores should be the name of their next album. They should pay you for the idea.

I'm sure it was all anti Trump blather, which is funny considered that though Trump is pretty far from punk rock, he's the closest thing we've had to rebellion since 1776

[–] puggy 1 points 17 points (+18|-1) ago

Actually one could make an argument that Trump is to politics what punk was to music - someone who has no interest in being a respected professional politician/musician, has no desire to be approved by the critics, delights in acts and statements that infuriate the main stream, hates the corrupt ass-kissing of the political/music industry, wants to get back to basics, won't milk the system for cash.

Yeah, I've been here on Voat for a couple years now, and last time I heard their song "I wanna be the minority" it about made me want to puke.

Socialist propaganda, packaged as pop punk.

I don't buy that. Are you talking about the true founders of punk (The Ramones) or the fake Malcolm Gladwell boys?

Having been a real punk before socialism in punk isn't that strange. All punk is political and it is typically aligned with syndicalism.

[–] SamwiseG 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago

Nope. It was hijacked by the left.

Original punk was DIY.

Do you know the Moral Majority is/was? SJWs 30 years ago were conservative and they were called the Moral Majority. They were the exact same as SJWs. Constantly seeking to be offended and trying to ban just about everything that didn't fit their myopic world view of 'acceptable' social and moral values.

The whole ...but won't anybody think of the children? was practically their slogan. They were led by a televangelist who sued Hustler magazine (back when we got our porn in print) for running a parody about him having sex in an outhouse with his mother. The batshit insane wing of the republican party that supports things like prohibiting abortion even in the case of rape or incest are holdovers from the Moral Majority.

The major difference between them and SJWs is they were actually effective. Hillary pandered to the SJWs of today and managed get less votes in 2016 than Obama did in 2012 even though there were more than 15 million new eligible voters - mostly made up of democrat friendly demographics in 2016. The Moral Majority actually got people into office at all levels, and even played a significant role in Reagan's landslide election. And like mentioned the really absurd social conservative wing of the republican party today is mostly a throw back to the Moral Majority. In 30 years from now people will probably be wondering how what sex can use what bathroom was ever an issue - and that will be a relic of today in much the same way that the Moral Majority perverted the republican party with idiotic social issue lobbying.

40 something alchoholic pill head wearing eye shadow and clothes he bought at hot-topic, singing with a fake british accent even though he was born and raised in California... trying his hardest to play power chords after 20-something years of being a rock-star status professional musician lecturing 11 year old kids on politics that he learned by reading the T-Shirts of college drop outs.

The band has something like 11 albums, and only two of them are arguably any good... Dookie and American Idiot. The rest are forgettable filler dribble that nobody knows anything about. Seriously, name three songs that aren't "Time of your life" off of Nimrod. Yet somehow this shit band got in the rock 'n' roll hall of fame...

Green Day are the fucking worst.

If I could get rid of two bands off the face of the planet forever, it would be Green Day and Sublime.

  • Last Ride In
  • King for a Day
  • Haushinka
  • Platypus (I Hate You)

May or may not have listened to that album a lot as a dumbass highschool student...

Those are all such great songs that are really popular! Way to prove Green Day don't just shit out filler material nobody has ever heard of before.

Hey goats, do you guys remember the classic hit, "Haushinka"? it was number-nothing on all charts for all eternity!

My mom told me not to be a rock star. It takes time to climb the rock ladder. You work hard through your 20s. At 31, you achieve success. Who thinks you're cool? 16 year olds. In 20 years you can have a reunion or keep chugging away like the Rolling Stones. I saw Plant/Page in the 90s. It's a fate worse than death.

I found a lot of the music I used to like I can't stand anymore. Being hardcore libertarian I notice all the lil bits of mindless, socialist propaganda mixed in. I just realized a few months ago I can't really enjoy RATM anymore. It was a sad day.

They became way too political, and not just in their music, which really hasn't been good since the 90s. Edit: They are not even close to punk.

They're corporate sellouts, the complete opposite of what punk is supposed to stand for. Not surprised since they chanted "No Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA!" at one of their concerts.
