During the election I had over 10 accounts within 3 months shadow banned for posting anti Clinton pro Trump facts. I still use the site, not because I like it, but to try to redpill as many people as I can.

Damn, I didn't know any of this. I just thought no one liked it on here because retards on Reddit circle jerk over it.

I appreciate the post and the details of the backstory as to why we shouldn't use it. imgur is now dead to me. Fuck their censorship and shitlib agenda.

I agree, however, if the death of slimgr taught us anything, it's that keeping all our dank memes in one location isn't the best idea. Kek.gg seems really good. I think Ive seen a few others too. The more we spread out the less likely it is we can be shut down or censored

Would be cool to have a bot that just rehosted on several image hosting sites.

I know we have derram, who archives links and gives us imgtc links of imgur posts. Definitely a good bot.

Likely true. Spreading stuff out to sympathetic sites is better than one place for all ... like ya said, been there, done that, and it wasn't good.

Cool, I thought it was atko ... I stand corrected. Still a good, easy to use image host, job well done.

Imgtc.com is a good alternative.

If sites like slimgur were tracking ips etc why wouldn't imgur? You know they hate us.

Poor alternative - imgtc.com is already blocked by many employers.

Not where I work. I am the one who blocks.

or do post from imgur, because they have the best uptime and the fastest load times. free country motherfucker.

That would be a serviceable counterpoint, if it were true. It's slow as balls for me.

They're the only image host which require JS for albums, fuck 'em.

Pretty fast for me, and as long as you link directly to the image and don't share it to the gallery your fine. They don't censor your personal images.

They do load a lot of extra fluff though. Especially when people link to one-image albums and Imgur loads several other "you may be interested in" posts down the page. I like my image sites lean and mean.

i see what you're saying, but direct links render that moot.

I posted this earlier in a thread about the increase of imgur links, and it's worth saying again where more people will see it:

Other than an increased influx of redditors, one reason is that the Pakistani spammers have started farming accounts here. They typically copy posts and comments from reddit (and occasionally from other places like 9gag and quora and yahoo answers - googling the title of an AskReddit/AskVoat post and copy/pasting an answer is very common for them). Imgur is popular there, so we get a lot of copied imgur links. The goal is to try to fly under the radar so when they start spamming anyone looking at their account might think they're a normal user and it takes longer for their accounts to get banned.

If we use it with adblock, that doesn't support them right? It adds to their visitors, but they could fake those anyways.

I personally refuse to be advertised to. There's absolutely nothing on the internet worth being advertised to over. When I was 13 I made some image galleries with ads, ever since then I've realized exactly what it is and why it's there.

Ads equal revenue, but user driven sites attract users with their content. I'd rather not supply them with revenue or content when there are better alternatives.
