Fucking Harry Potter. These virtue signalling cuck beta male faggots are SO INTO Harry Potter that it borders on autistic.

It's a fucking child's story about wizards, holy shit.

Its escapism, they're probably getting into their mid twenties and still want to imagine themselves going to wizard school.

I bet you that in real life, even if they WERE wizards, they'd all be working in wizard convenience stores and gas stations.

I think it is more than that to them. Here's a post explaining how Harry Potter serves as a mythology (in the Jungian sense) for liberalism.

Harry Potter, especially the movies, is about the legitimacy of authority that comes from schools.

[...]

contemporary liberalism is the ideology of imperial academia, funneled through media and non-profits and governmental agencies but responsible ultimately only to itself

[...]

Having all but abandoned their radical skepticism toward the controlling power of mass social judgment and the implicit power of entrenched hierarchical elites, today’s campus activists are quite explicit in their appeal not to demolish the power of administrators, but to expand it. Of course faceless bureaucrats should be allowed to issue behavioral codes of conduct, of course mandatory sensitivity training is needed to instruct students and faculty how to act appropriately, and of course new administrative appendages are indispensable in the moral guidance of university life. Each of the remedies called for at Yale and elsewhere is symptomatic of a new-found faith in university administrators as responsible guardians of social justice and as legitimate moral authorities.

I fucking love Harry Potter and a ton of other movies and books. But they NEVER come up in my real life conversations or posts online unless we are talking about them directly. This generation currently entering adulthood has to reference mass media for everything. It is all the shared knowledge they have.

Exactly. If you're talking about dinosaurs, talk about dinosaurs. But if you're talking about politics and social ideas, and chime in "Pssh, just like a Tyrannosaurus Rex would..." and get a "OH FOR SURE I wish we could all be Stegosauruses..."

Fuck man. It's dumb as fuck.

How do you feel about the latest book / movie from Rowling? I felt it was a liberal snowflake piece of shit.

Tfw you have no culture of your own and pop culture is the only one you know. Harry Potter gets bonus points for being a children's book. Very fitting for the delayed adolescence and childish escapism that is ubiquitous now.

You don't get it. By supporting Trump you are asking them to hurt/kill you and thereby become a martyr for the cause. You CAUSE their violence against you and for that you are the root of their evil actions. They are purely blameless that you made them do it. Just like the guys who blow themselves and others up for their God. Same thing. You have to see that.

Sadly, I can't put /s because it seems they really feel that way.

"Must have an under-developed prefrontal cortex."

You're not supposed to know how to use big words like prefrontal and cortex properly being an unedumacated Trump supporter.

The only problem with this is there isn't really anything like a half-wizard in the HP world. You're either a witch/wizard or you aren't. The different degrees of magical skill correspond to different degrees of intelligence and diligence in practicing the art.

Mixing with muggles just means there is a greater likelihood that your offspring won't be a wizard/witch, though the wizard genes are quite dominant. The purists just want to make sure no muggles are born into the magical world because they see them as inferior and don't want to co-exist with them.

The danger is not in the simplicity of the story. HP is a good modern day mythos with many archaic figures. The danger is limiting your exposure to both history and other works of fiction. When you don't even possess the knowledge of more accurate representations of your "enemy" and try to shoe horn them into the one example you are familiar with. You're basically trying to squeeze your opposition into a poorly fitting mold and then deluding yourself that the mangled lump of material that emerges from the mold looks just like the original.

Edit: Every bad person is Hitler! Every bad group is Nazis!

Even if every fevered fear about trump were true, They would have zero to fear from him as POTUS if left hadn't spent the last century furiously consolidating power in executive and unelected branchs of government.

Whos the one shooting up politicians?

[–] lemon11 0 points 7 points (+7|-0) ago

I've seen people respond to this with "well, which politicians need shooting?" It's a very transparent mindset of power over everything, yet those making these argument deny that, and they're believed. I don't know how to describe it other than as a consensus of blood lust.
