Did you go in expecting a bump in the night horror film?
I think from a Frankenstein perspective it's quite a horror. Where David is Frankenstein's monster, capable of fighting back. Scarred by how he's been treated and now helpless they have to answer for how they've treated all other David-bots.
Maybe I'm explaining this badly...
The horror isn't the xenomorphs, they're thriller material, the horror is David's reflection of humanity.
