The Chagatai Khanate (mixed) survived to the 17th century, then quickly fell apart when it became majority muslim. The Golden Horde (mixed) survived into the 16th century and quickly fell apart into small tribes after it became majority muslim. The Il-Khanate (muslim) was the first khanate to become majority muslim in 1295, and it only took 40 years (!) of Islam to turn it from a well-oiled and disciplined part of the Mongol Empire into a crazy quilt of bickering angry bearded guys clubbing each other to death.

Meanwhile, the mongols of the Yuan Dynasty (buddhist) survived to the 17th century and eventually transitioned into modern Mongolia. It was also the first and only part of the Mongol empire to break Genghis Khan's doctrine of total religious tolerance in order to put heavy restrictions on muslims after a scandal involving Kublai-Khan's Muslim treasurer that nearly sparked an uprising in Beijing.
