So, I'm very new to Voat, but I am really liking it so far! Sad thing, is Reddit was my home for the past 5 years, where it never seemed to be the bubbling pile of shit it is now. Onwards, my YouTube channel. I ran a fairly successful YouTube channel where I gained 6.7k subs in a matter of 4 months, making compilation videos with my own commentary and discussion where they gained almost instant traction. After the whole ad debacle, most of my videos that were doing very well were demonetized. 3 videos with over 600k views were demonetized with no reason, not a way to dispute.
Mostly ALL of the big YouTubers were covering this, and always threw in the anecdote towards small channels, like mine. When I tried to reach out to some who seemed to reach out to their fans a lot, all I heard was silence. The matter? My channel was being shadowed BIG time. I would normally get 1500-3k views an HOUR. I went from that, to 50 views an hour. That is unheard of with a sub base like mine. Tried to see how my fans were seeing my work and they all had their notifications to my channel turned OFF. I created a new channel on YouTube where most of my loyal subs have migrated to, but now YouTube has implemented a rule that you need 10k views before you can submit to have monetization, so I'm making no money now.
I just wanted to vent about this, because Reddit would blow me up, shut me out. YouTube wants to destroy it's whole platform because all major advertisers have pulled their ads. And these snowflake liberals say that conservative billionaires are the evil of the world, meanwhile rich, liberal companies just want to cater to these ridiculous claims that their ads are on "hate speech" videos. YouTube may want to shut me down, but I'm not going down without a fight. Thank you for reading.

I quit my YouTube channel recently. I had built a community of about 40,000 in around 9 months and during the whole adpocaplypse not only did revenue drop but my views and sub growth just tanked. Like going from 30-40 new subscribers a day (and sometimes 100 on video release days) to not even 5 most days.
I sound like a dick for saying it, but once my channel started growing my motivation for creating content shifted from just wanting to make content to obsessing over views and sub counts. It was an adrenaline rush for me. And once that went away I pretty much stopped making videos.
Oh well, YouTube's loss. I've got plenty of other hobbies.

I feel ya. It was a good pay day when ad rates were normal and having 1-2mil views a month. That was always nice.
