I'll admit to having gone through an edgy atheist phase. I grew out of it.

Microbiologist here. Thanks for explaining why the last ten years of evolving (HA!) beliefs have taken a sudden turn that has resulted in me praying from time to time.

I dunno bout all that. I'm more agnostic now. I think there's immortality to be found, but it lies in building strong families and strong Nations.

Edit to plug for Universalism. Animism is pretty cool too. I try to keep my household spirits happy. And I can't forget to Praise Kek.

What exactly constitutes 'edgy' about a lack of belief? Seems far more controversial to believe in a man in the sky watching you masturbate.

[–] BigFatDaddy 0 points 12 points (+12|-0) ago

Edgy in the sense that I was kind of a dick about it. Like I said, luckily I've outgrown it.

Now I'm just a dick to commies. :-)

It's not the lack of belief per se, it's the fact that they were edgelord faggots.

Anyone who is openly not Christian or thinks religions shouldn't rule the world is just an edgy teen who's angry at Jesus

non violent christians add to the decaying of western civilization when aggressive cultures are present. violent false doctrine christians protect western values and maybe even christian values but at a hypocritical cost.

Christianity isn't bad but the heavy handed bible thumpers are. On more occasions than I care for I come across self righteous christians attacking people(verbally) for not believing like they do and each time I remind them that WE DO NOT live in a theocracy and if we did it may not be the variety that they like.......and they should be thankful that we don't.

People are imperfect and as such those with imperfections seem to shout the loudest. Don't be that christian.

It's just sad that so many "Christians" (the majority, it seems) behave in a way completely contrary to what is actually taught in the Bible. Jesus Christ never treated people poorly. He dined with sinners and treated people with love. he then called all his followers to do the same and highlighted all over the place that his followers weren't in any way "better" than others and that judgement is left to God, not man. Yet, for some reason, so many "Christians" these days missed the whole "love everyone and don't judge others" part of Jesus' teachings.

This is the primary reason I avoid "gatherings" like the plague. They pray for hours and then flip you off because they thought you cut them off pulling out ofnteh church parking lot. Ugh :-(

I wonder how many Christians here on voat participate in FPH, niggers and write {{{ jooz }}} ...

It's not as important what groups do as but what you do as an individual.

I still respect Jews cause of the pain and suffering they self inflict and sometimes are inflicted upon them.

Confirmed ethnically Jewish.

It's even worse when those 'Christians' attack others for not acting Christian when they don't act Christian themselves.

The only thing worse than a zealot is a hypocritical zealot

Yeah, they'd say "Fuck we're stuck on this Mediterranean archipelago while Christianity has spread worldwide." And Alexander The Okay would cry some more.

Greek religion (and Roman, Germanic, Slavic, etc...) was a religion of masters. It instilled in it's followers a sense of purpose. Greeks believed that a man must constantly better himself, grow with each day and strive for mastery in all things.

Christianity is a religion of slaves. It was born from the idea that people must suffer in this world obediently so that they can find eternal peace in the next, and their slave masters will burn for eternity if they wrong them. There were several periods in time when Christianity became more like the above mentioned religions, where Christians were called upon to better themselves in all ways on this world. One such time was after the fall of Byzantium, which sparked the renaissance.

We need another renaissance.

How much of western civilization comes from the mythology and beliefs of Greece? Every one of their stories involve some aspect of human nature and how we should behave.

I'm religious and have enjoyed the discussions I've had here with agnostics/atheists/more religious folks.

People here aren't really trying to push their views so much. You see more of people explaining where they are coming from.

Unless those views pertain to how the Jews, fat people, or black people are the source of all evil. That's what voat proselytizes.

The anti-Christians on Reddit were always just so fucking cringe worthy. A real bunch of cunts with their fedoras and trench coats and samurai swords and vapes. Fucking shit man, I'm atheist and I genuinely hated those motherfuckers.

I hope you're not confusing attending church with being Christian... walking into a building does not make one a Christian.

Damn, I've been gone a lot longer than I thought. Anyway, no that's not what I meant at all. There are just a lot of good values and lessons associated with it and I think people following those is necessary no matter how they happen to come to do so. I'm agnostic now, but I think there are many good teachings in the bible and I fear that there might be a good portion of people that may not follow them without fear of god. I tend to be quite the pessimist though. People are probably better than I give them credit for.

Church is not four walls and a roof! I hope you're not insinuating that Church is a building...
