Honestly there's a lot of crap there too. Maybe the ponies helped clean things up, but I doubt it.

Apparently /mlpol/ fucked around with the bots, because they couldnt handle the url change, so it was more inline on what most of /pol/ believes in than usual.

the number 1 most shilled place on the internet. the current strategy, after having failed for years to change their general consensus, is to simply flood the place constantly to prevent as much real conversation as possible.

Who is this hacker named 4chan?

Just look it up... Unless you aren't an adult. In that case get out of here.

If you do go on there, just remember:

Aussies are shitposters. No exceptions.

Leafs are just lashing out because they don't know how to cope with the cognitive dissonance that the elected Trudeau is inflicting on his constituents.

South America has some pretty based motherfuckers.

Reddit is full of autistic people pretending to be smart. 4chan/pol is full of smart people pretending to be autistic.

The name /pol/ itself stands for Politically Incorrect, its always been the counter culture board of society and the internet exposing lies of the world for what they are, aiming to dig and understand, and being the forefront of news and happenings.

Due to /pol/'s nature its a gathering place of similar minds and people who wish for more out of society, attracted to it is people of all sorts of places and position and its anonymous nature allows leakers to share and confirm/deny. They are ahead of the curve by a lot, news there is months ahead of what you'd normally hear. Its also a meme machine, driving opinion by the way of the meme - its content reaches many places no doubt you've been exposed to it yourself since you've been on Voat.

The current /pol/ is 8/pol/, 4/pol/ is a mostly hollow shell since the exodus happened.

It's truth because normie faggots don't fuck it up as much as half pol and that's because it's not plugged on voat or leddit

Because on chans you are judged solely on the contents of your post

Same thing applies pretty much everywhere else, like Reddit. The difference is you can't hide people's opinions you don't agree with or make other opinions more visible via up/down vote, the ignorant people with awful points are simply ignored and eventually go away.

I can click your username and pull up opinions on anything you might have said in the past here (or on reddit for example) if the board you post on has id's they change every thread so are still only judged by what you have said in the thread. You can hide peoples opinion on chans by using the filter option. As for ignorant people with awful points i could say what about people who get brigaded? or even the old saying even a broken clock right twice a day.

I can't remember the exact story but one of the coontown mods on reddit made a belter of a joke that hit the front page and in comments some prick was like ' oh he's a mod at coontown' and he was instantly down voted, not because of the content of his post but because he was identifiable, that would only happen on a chan if your a tripfag, in which case you fucking deserve it anyway

Because people who read 4chan/8chan actually have functional brains and common sense. Also, the media is infested with lying dipshit Juden.

Because 4chan just presents the points with a little humor without wasting time on paragraphs of fluff to establish "writing style" to try and sounder like a news article, it just flows from point to point without pitstops.

You are comparing robots who want to make an impact on the world somehow to media outlets that are paid to disinform or at least divert from the real issues.

I know that 4chan is a cesspool and is honestly the pit of the internet

I disagree. I find 4Chan very entertaining.

Unfortunately, you're conclusion completely spoils the premise.

Here's the thing: 4chan is an image board. It's sort of like reddit or voat in that it has different communities within all the boards. /b/ i feel is most popular/renown. /b/ is filled with apparent prepubescence, and most people are there literally to amuse themselves and virtually no other reason. They're the weird kids, the ones that didn't fit in when you were in highschool. These things may be true, but that doesn't mean they don't have legitimately founded opinions. They're weird, but that doesn't mean they're stupid or lack determination. They've grown popular due to their antics, there's no disagreement there. But, to write them off as nerds, freaks, and autists, while it may be a meme/joke, is lackluster at best.

/pol/ is the more intellectual and political side. They don't like strangers, or people that participate too early. It's obvious and you'll notice early if you begin lurking there. There's a damn good reason for this too: the way they communicate with each other helps you understand the sensitivity of the content they discuss. They're careful not to reveal themselves too easily and most likely usually hold themselves back a bit. I think that despite them coming on pretty strong, they genuinely are some of the smartest people I've ever encountered. Remember the whole fiasco with shia lebouff where they took down his flags and shit? They tracked fucking flight patterns and bird migration patters. Who not only has time for that, but the will to accomplish such a feat? Either there's this many of them that someone was bound to know about these subjects, or there's honestly people there that are actually that smart and have enough time to devote to such a task. That's just one example, though. I've found that these guys at the surface seem like they have very radical ideas, and I'm certain they push a lot of people away based on that, but if you can break the surface with these people, they are surprisingly civil, understanding, and often quite intelligent.

Don't get me wrong, there's more boards that are different in their own ways, and they definitely have their moments, but everyone writes them off as if they're worthless. In reality, they produce effective memes, they regularly have surprisingly fulfilling conversations, and they're actually a lot more organized and productive than people may think. Besides, their facade is thick, but worthwhile to break through. The ones that do a good job of explaining things and reasoning seem to really make a lot of sense after a while. I've gone in before being pretty decided about certain topics, only to leave feeling pretty confused and near the brink of changing my mind. I might be slowly concluding that these guys are way more insightful and just plain on top of things than most people care to realize.

Look, I'm not here to praise everyone on the site or make a case for their overall greatness, that would be knowingly dishonest of me. However, I think there's definitely a lot we can learn from 4chan (yeah, probably just /pol/), and for people to write them off based on their facade (which is designed to keep "normies" away to begin with), is certainly failing themselves and the people that frequent the site.

They really do get a bad rap. Sometimes it's deserved, but usually it's far from it.
