Gloria and Michael (liberals) were constantly portrayed as the plucky underdogs chipping away at Archie's "toxic" ideology. And every time Archie speaks one of his truths, and they were truths, the laughter lights came on, and the "live studio audience" happily obeyed.
There were some things that I don't agree with Archie on. Smoking is one thing. I used to smoke, and now that I've quit, I hate it. It gets in clothing and hair and leaves a film over everything. Sorry, Arch. I can't get behind you on that one.
If you've never seen the show, pirate that shit and binge away. The episodes are available on Jewtube, but don't go there.
The coons are comin'!

nah. differnt time.
that was was bleeding dge for the decade it was made in. and is son carl reiner represented the faggot pinhead liberals of that era. it was compromise and understanding in the dense battlefield of words and ideologies.
it represented millions of homes at that time, not unlike rosanne or cosby or family ties.
the guy norman lear also wrote sanford and son, maude, good times, the jeffersons, one day at a time, and one of the weirdest and most birlliant comedies of all time, "fernwood tonight" launching the careers of martin mull, fred willard, harry shearer and many others.
he also as had voice cameos and wrote sporadically for south park...
his company also produced stand by me, the pricess bride and he also served in the US Army during WW2.
so...theres that.
