Masculine inadequacy aside, joining a gym - a good one, anyway - is a great idea. Setting a goal and achieving it will help, especially if that goal achieves visible results.
MMA is a great way to learn about yourself, in addition to getting into shape so I heartily support it.

I see zero downsides to that plan, no better way to spend your money than building yourself up. Be a dude that does stuff, go, go, go! :D

In the military I used to do 400 pushups a day. You can workout at home for free.

Well, being a ninja sounds like a good deal to me, but I guess the context of the offer could go all directions. Any other martial arts gyms around? How about krav maga? That's the one that prepares you best for street fights I hear.
