Have you ever traveled to Africa? Latin America? Middle East? Some parts of Asia?
In Mexico, someone attempted to kidnap me. In Malaysia I was threatened by a group of 6 military guys who wanted to attack me just for being a Kafir with a Muslima friend. Walking in the jungle 2 masked Malays with machetes confronted me. I was threatened in the US because I ventured into a Black area. I was almost robbed in a park in the US by a Hispanic man. I was pick-pocketed and ripped off many times in Vietnam. I had a knife put to my face in Vietnam. I had to fight a Black guy in Europe because he was beating a White woman. Everyone I know who has lived and worked in Africa has been targeted. We had many close calls and had a few friends killed. 4 Blacks attacked me in my home town for walking through their neighborhood (which used to be MY neighborhood but they took over). That is only my experience. All my friends are well traveled and they all have had experiences. It is well known that White skin makes you a target in non-White countries. Part of that has to do with wealth. Part has to do with hate.
Wrote out a long reply and it glitched, sorry those things happened to you but it's not relevant to the point I was making.
I completely agree having white skin makes you a target.
However, being a target in your own country is your problem, for you to fix. I learned my lesson the hard way, as I'm sure you have now, Africa is a shithole and if you aren't vigilant every second you're in for a short time.
The worst danger was in my own country funnily enough. When the risk vs reward changes, so too does peoples motivations for violence. Armed robbery in an South African shithole doesn't need to end in death if you play it right, no benefit if no reward and no point drawing any attention. The murder rate is so high because of frequency, due to poverty
Armed robbery in a first world nation can land the crim a lengthy stint, therefore they are willing to commit a further act of violence if it achieves a reward, knowing that
Being a target in another country is, like you've mentioned part weatlh, part hate, but also part international politics. You can't change what your government might have done to another populace in history.
Having traveled extensively to the areas you've mentioned, although to only a few regions of the middle-east, I've come within minutes of either extreme harm or death at times, did my skin colour play into it? Absolutely.
Did I take that into account when travelling there? Absolutely.
Mexico is the way it is because America pumps guns and money into it in exchange for drugs. The CIA is funded by the Cocaine trade from the Central and South American nations.
You're also full of shit about Malaysia. I've traveled through Malaysia by bus and train. I've hung out with backpackers from the US, Europe and Australia. We never had any trouble moving freely and never once worried about our safety. One of the girls with us, a school teacher, went by herself, via cab to an elephant reserve and got to see some amazing animals. One of the girls I met was from Germany and had been teaching in a village for over two years and had learned quite a bit of Malay. She traveled frequently through the country by herself.
The only thing I was afraid of in Malaysia was this weird guy from Holland in our hostel who had lost his job in the Netherlands and an accountant because he refused to fix books during the late 2000s financial crisis. He started yelling at us one night when we were sitting around eating; started ranting about kids on their cellphones and how no one sees what's real in this world. He checked out a day early and thankfully we never saw him again.
