Don't argue to convince your opponent. Argue to convince the audience. I agree, and leftists are not intellectually honest either.

The book of Proverbs has two contradictory bits of advice:

Answer a fool according to his folly or he will be wise in his own eyes.

Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you be like him yourself.

My interpretation is that there's no winning with fools--if there's one around, he's going to cause one form of misery or another.

Straw lives matter too!

An interesting proposition, since straw doesn't exist unless you first kill the grain from whence it comes.

yeah I agree, I was having a conversation with my leftist friend : "see, trump won the election despite potrayed by media that he will not have chance to win , yet he won?" she said : "I underestimate the number of fasicst in US".....I just asking simple question withount tendency and yet she answered like that, and she's only agressive if we talk about things like that, and leftist is always insults people who argue with them..sigh

Another tactic is to quickly shotgun out a half dozen or more fake news items, and when no one can be arsed to counter all the bullshit, declare victory.

Like playing chess with a pigeon. It knocks over the pieces, craps on the board, and then proclaims victory.

The great masses could be saved, if only with the gravest sacrifice in time and patience.

But a Jew could never be parted from his opinions.

At that time I was still childish enough to try to make the madness of their doctrine clear to them; in my little circle I talked my tongue sore and my throat hoarse, thinking I would inevitably succeed in convincing them how ruinous their Marxist madness was; but what I accomplished was often the opposite. It seemed as though their increased understanding of the destructive effects of Social Democratic theories and their results only reinforced their determination.

The more I argued with them, the better I came to know their dialectic. First they counted on the stupidity of their adversary, and then, when there was no other way out, they themselves simply played stupid. If all this didn't help, they pretended not to understand, or, if challenged, they changed the subject in a hurry, quoted platitudes which, if you accepted them, they immediately related to entirely different matters, and then, if again attacked, gave ground and pretended not to know exactly what you were talking about. Whenever you tried to attack one of these apostles, your hand closed on a jelly-like slime which divided up and poured through your fingers, but in the next moment collected again. But if you really struck one of these fellows so telling a blow that, observed by the audience, he couldn't help but agree, and if you believed that this had taken you at least one step forward, your amazement was great the next day. The Jew had not the slightest recollection of the day before, he rattled off his same old nonsense as though nothing at all had happened, and, if indignantly challenged, affected amazement; he couldn't remember a thing, except that he had proved the correctness of his assertions the previous day.

Sometimes I stood there thunderstruck.

I didn't know what to be more amazed at: the agility of their tongues or their virtuosity at lying.

You describe my thanksgiving dinner. They tell me Wikileaks is a conspiracy theory, but then with a straight face say that Russia hacked the election. They recite the anti-Trump buzzwords in the same order the TV told them to, but can't answer a single specific question about ethics. They say Trump is a bad man without naming something specific, while oblivious to their candidate's human trafficking and overt criminality. The entire discussion was nothing but ad-hominem and brainless buzzwords from them.

And these family members are university educated and otherwise a fairly intelligent bunch. They also all work government jobs and get their information from TV. Thought that was worth mentioning. Leftism has for real turned into a cult. I've said this before - I was in high demand religions some years ago, and I see exactly the same patterns of thought, language, and puritanism.

Wanna know what's awesome? My 8 year old nephew sees through this shit and likes Trump. Actually asked why people are acting so silly about it. The cult is going to lose big time.

It's a team sport for them and they're cheering for the blue jersey. Trump could adopt all of Obama's policies and they would still swear he is a Russian plant hellbent on the US's destruction [which then may be true] but had Trump won the Dim primaries and won he would be hailed for the same thing he is doing now.
