oh but child abusers have actually harmed someone. that isn't a thought crime. there is a difference between protecting people and forcing conformity of opinion. i support your right to protect children. people have the right to bodily autonomy, meaning that when someone abuses them they have the right to defend themselves. children are in no position to be able to do so (this is not exclusive to children, many adults also cannot protect themselves). you only overstep your bounds with children when you protect them from something they choose to do, when they know what they are doing, and they are not your children. parents (and other caretakers) are the only people with the right to overrule a child's agency when they know what they are opting to do. you are always in the right when you are defending someone from attack at their request.
