Fortunately, all of Voat's censoring is public record. Unlike Reddit, there's nothing mods can hide.

Autistic?? I'm offended! (just kidding: It made me laugh to think that you'd call someone that.)

Man, I'm so glad that the coontown crowd was considerate enough to follow these rules.

It would be pretty awful if they simply spread their shit out across where ever they please.

Now let's hit them with some multisyllable insults that they'll have to Google to understand.

What is it with all these people talking for the whole voat user base lately? The pizza guys have done more than you have on voat.

I know right, who the fuck does OP think he is to say pizza gate doesn't belong in conspiracy.

Shit belongs wherever and whenever it is relevant to the thread at hand, not sequestered off in a containment sub so OP can have a safespace.

we've had a lot of these discussions before and a lot of things were more or less agreed upon, but most people are just miffed their v/all was messed up and are impatient

The user base speaks with upvoats. If people agree, they upvoat, if they don't, then we likely never see this post.

Sure. If it wasn't for people making alt accounts to manipulate votes with and if there were no bots. You would be right.

This argument really needs to have the plug pulled. Look, it's pretty simple:

You can either have free speech, or you can have rules. You can't have both. If Voat is really the bastion of free speech everyone keeps trying to make it out to be, then you cannot be shackled with "content rules". That is the problem with reddit, there are people that curate the content. If that is what you want, then fine, go back there.

Now having said all that, I don't think OP is calling for content curation, although there are some on this site that think it is a good idea which is absolutely amazing to me. How anyone could not see that content curation is the reason reddit is censorship is beyond me... but I digress....

OP is simply asking that you think about where you post. There is nothing wrong with civil, voluntary discourse as long as nobody is silenced, and no posts are removed for "organization".

It's possible to have curation and free speech on the same site; it's having them in the same sub that's the issue. It also seems pretty damn obvious to me that removing off topic content is not the same thing as censorship (as so much of the voat community claims. I've seen political stuff in /v/gaming, that are not, by any stretch of the imagination, related to games, where, if ChillyHellion removes it, he gets hate from the poster.), people go to certain communities for certain realms of content, and removing irrelevant content is simply a part of maintaining that dedicated space (especially since we have the modlog). The system subs, and any personal subs one creates, and /v/whatever are ALL free speech platforms, AND get more traffic than anywhere else on the site. Ideally, those locations should be moderated in a janitorial only manner (and, in my experience, they have been). If people want curation, why should you stop them? If they want free speech, not only is there plenty to go 'round, but they can and will create a new sub with that in mind.

I agree with most of what you said here except "removing off topic content is not the same thing as censorship", removing any content by definition is censorship, but I think I understand what you are trying to say. All's I'm trying to say is when voat keeps getting touted as this "censorship-free" site, it should be noted that is not in fact true. There is censorship here, just like on reddit, and for exactly the same reason: As long as there is an irrational human curating the content, you will have censorship.

Now, if you're fine with that, fine... you seem to be on the side of preferring a little censorship so you don't have to look at "shitposts". That is what is happening here and on reddit, and we shouldn't be flinging around this myth that voat is somehow a "bastion of free speech" because it just isn't. And if you are going to say that there are few subverses that are well and true completely free of censorship, well I'm not gonna argue with that.

Bullshit. Take your safe space rules and put them were the sun doesn't shine. If you don't like the content, use downvote button.

I largely agree, but pizzagate stuff equally belongs on /v/conspiracy as well. Just the nature of it means it belongs - perhaps not en masse, but it belongs.

A good compromise would be to have a weekly topic for pizzagate stuff in conspiracy where people can openly discuss it to keep the sub from being flooded.

If it's truly relevant with another sub that posting there contributes to that sub as well it should be encouraged. However it should still be limited in that the sub should focus on that topic, not on the x posted content.
