The left tends to shout louder than the right. In a democracy, that shouldn't make any difference - they can get their way if they can persuade enough voters to support them, and if demonstrating in the streets is how they want to do it, fine. It is an error to simply accede to a group just because they shout loudest.
So it is with the Voat "democracy", driven by up/down-votes. Just because a vocal minority cry "we don't want that in our sub!" that isn't a reason to delete posts. *eddit is an autocracy, we know that. But Voat is (or should be) a democracy, content is supported or discouraged by voting, and censoring is justified on 4 grounds only:
- advertising spam
- illegal content, e.g CP, inciting violence
- NSFW content in non-NSFW subverses
