Being social media free for over a year now I believe, and did not regret it a single day. I am more productive, and serene than ever. I only need to interact with the people I decide to interact with irl, and the goats here on Voat.

I got rid of mine a while back, Facebook in particular a number of years ago. The one I can't quite push myself to drop completely is twitter. It's a weakness but hopefully I'll get there.

I never got into Twitter. I guess I should delete that account, too, while I'm at it.

The uber censoring SJW strong hold? Ewww dude. Delete it. I don't even THINK about twitter anymore.

I have been systematically deleting every single post I have made on my facebook wall, posts that people have put on my wall, picture tags, and everything from my facebook account. Once my account is devoid of everything I am hitting the delete button too. Not sure if doing it this way will have any impact, but it makes it feel much more thorough. It's incredible how much better it feels to leave that place.

You have much more patience than I. I thought about going through and deleting all of my Reddit comments, but it would have taken forever. My Facebook is pretty tame. I don't think I posted anything too terrible or embarrassing on there, but who knows...oh well, I don't ever plan on running for public office.

I cut and pasted a -0- in all of my Reddit comments. If you don't, they can be found through various applications if you only delete your account or even your posts. IMHO, you need to rewrite something in your posts before deleting them. I know this because even after deleting my posts, I was able to find many of them (there was a person I was trying to find). It was frightening to think even my deleted posts were easily found.

There are scripts that will overwrite and delete reddit comments for you automatically. It still took me a while to purge my couple years old account, but reddit keeps the last version of a comment before it was deleted, so I suppose it was worth it.

Don't delete, edit them. I'm pretty sure that deleted posts are saved, but if you edit them no say nothing. Just a "." or something, it then gets saved as that. Then delete. Like how when I left my Reddit account I rewrote ALL comments with software then deleted it.

Cut MSM. Cut cable, Cut Hollywood, Cut sports, cut NPR. We need a true alternate media. When I'm working I usually listen RightStuff.biz podcasts during the day but I would rather have some more comprehensive entertainment.

I really should. The only time I watch cable tv is to watch my favorite NFL team play and occasionally my hockey or baseball team. I literally do not watch tv otherwise. Not even Netflix. I need Internet for my job, though

Congrats? I know some younger people grew up with it their whole lives, but life is better without it. No stressing over reading the dumb fucking shit people post. No mindless scrolling for hours wasting your day. The time people spend on FB could instead be used to literally master something. People, on average, spend 50 min a day on FB. Then throw in twitter, instagram etc. For what? So you can look at more photos? Read more completely fake news stories? Social media is garbage. At least on a forum you can have discussions on the topics you want with some anonymity. Feels good doesn't it?

Good for you OP.

Pushing away from the interwebs is liberating. Voat is a guilty pleasure and just about the last site I visit. There are hours of freedom where I am able to do things around the house for fun and enjoyment.
