That's the filtered through part. Visually it's Leave it to Beaver, w tentacle rape. The little school girl skirts, the button down dressed dudes, the big round eyed people. It's 1953 suburban America, w tentacle monsters

Yeah I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Astroboy was pretty much a riff on Disney's style.

Well, Tezuka did enjoy and take inspiration from a lot of Walt's work, so in many ways, the two industries have spurred each other onwards, in various aspects.

I'm sitting here watching some BW old TV reruns, and it just stuck me how similar the visual elements are mostly. I could imagine an manga author watching American TV back then an being influenced. They really do look alike
