Abusive assholes is what I'd call them.

No different than berating your kids as "sinners"

I fucking hate zealots of all types.

They should go to my nephew's baseball games. The boys are playing baseball and all of their sisters are in a huge group playing with Barbie's.

They'd be triggered and end up protesting the game with all their trigglypoof lard beast herd.

Kids are honest little fuckers. If they want to wear pink, regardless of gender; let that little fucker wear pink.

My buddy has a 4 year old boy, and my pal works out of town a lot. I guess his boy has been asking for a baby doll and his mother wouldn't get him one. When my buddy came home his son asked him for a baby doll and he was like, "Yeah, let's go get one right now little man." And his wife pulled him aside and said she hadn't been getting him one because she didn't want him to turn gay.

The little kid doesn't even understand what gay is, most likely. My bud was like, "A doll ain't gonna make him turn gay." And got him the doll.

What do you goats think?

No biggie about the doll, parents just need to be careful not to undermine the other parent. She (apparently) said no without checking with him and he said yes without checking with her, which now makes her the bad guy. Imagine if the reason she said no wasn't because she had a problem with it but because she wanted to run it by him first?

None of my business of course, but that's what jumped out at me in your story.

Exactly, she didn't even want him to know his son wanted a baby doll.

That makes sense, and it's what I try to do with my little brother. He likes putting pretty clips in his hair, so I tell him, "Other kids will think you're weird, but if you don't mind that go for it."

A baby doll has nothing to do with sexuality, the center of the nature of a baby doll is the child emulating parenthood.

I think teaching religion to children works that way.

[–] tchouk 0 points 5 points (+5|-0) ago

Or anything, really. You always make the choice for your children. The "righties" on voat won't be teaching their children progressive values, that's for damn sure.

And I can guarantee that there exists a similar conversation where a parent is upset over the fact that little Johnny wants to watch anime all day instead of going hunting and shooting guns like he'd been taught.

My parents took me to church every Sunday but always gave me the choice to believe what I felt was right. Though my mother is Anglican and our church was always pretty laid back, nowadays I'm more agnostic. I think children should be encouraged to choose and think whenever possible but you still need to steer them in the right direction of what you believe to be right, it's only natural. But that's the impasse with religion, anyone who really believes it is going to pass it down fairly strongly as they believe they are doing the right thing, religious people don't think to themselves to give a choice since they believe there is only one right choice.

And they never take the left-handed scissors! They complain endlessly about not being able to use the right-handed ones but give them a left-handed pair and it's all "No way! I'm using these just so you can see how hard it is for me to use these!"

[–] goblin_ghost 0 points 11 points (+11|-0) ago

The real reason is that the left-handed scissors are shit. They just switch the finger holes but not the blades, so the left-handed ones are worse than the right ones.

Lefties are retarded, I'm right handed but I've used left handed scissors before, and had no trouble using them. I don't know what their problem is, they're cursed or something.

Would be better if they cared less for the favorite color their children picked and shows they watched and more about encouraging them to do whatever they wanted when they grow up (e.g. doctor, lawyer, business person, computer scientist, etc) and preparing them for it.

[–] 6227704? 0 points 12 points (+12|-0) ago

Pretty much, yes. But then they'd be another boring, decent parent who wants the best for their kid. These people want to be the centre of attention, and they've decided the fastest route is to be virtue-signalling tosspots with social experiment snowflake children they can parade around.

In an ideal world, people would be quicker to recognise that as the abuse it is.

You shouldnt be expected to be great or perfect at something to be allowed to pursue something. You can not succeed if you arent given the opportunity to do so, regardless of the standard.

This applies to anyone

That's an absolutely retarded generalization in this context.

Even if women in general don't, that tells you absolutely nothing of the aptitudes of the individual woman.

This is exactly it. If their kids act normal, then the parents are worried everyone will think they're not raising then to be gender-queer pan-fucking trans-kin or whatever, and that reflects badly on their virtue signaling to the other brainwashed, trendy parents in their upwardly mobile socially conscious neighborhood.

[–] jerrykantrell 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

Oh wow. What you said makes a lot of sense. It's like, if the kid is normal people will think the parents are conservatives or something.
