Have you tried actively seeking out like-minded or otherwise likable people in your life? The people who just happen to be in your family, or at your workplace or school may not be your best matches - or is it something deeper where you think that you have a hatred for all people?

Like-minded and likable people are in short supply where I am. I'm fond of calling the town I live in "Detroit's little cousin with Down's Syndrome."
There absolutely are people I like being around, a few towns over. Does a fat lot of good, since I don't have a car. I'm intending to move there in the next month or so, if I can pin down a job near where I'd be living.
There is something deeper, though. I hate how people around me are. The best word I can think of is complacency. I want to be smarter, stronger, better, more patient today than I was yesterday, and more tomorrow than I am today. The one person I respect the most here has been doing the same job on the daily for the past 20 years.
I don't expect to find like-minded people anywhere. But if there are any here, I'm looking for a needle in a haystack.

I've never lived in a place where there are no professionals, entrepreneurs, etc. it must be difficult. Sounds like an "escape the ghetto" scenario. A month isn't much time, so what are your plans when you get to the other town?

Move

Move out of the rust belt and into an area where continuous improvement is expected. It will be a good cultural shift for you.
