WHAT SOME VOATERS THINK VOAT IS ABOUT:
WHAT VOAT IS REALLY ABOUT:
- Discussing the hypocrisy of social justice movements and media.
- Having an open and honest debate about history and religion.
- Rational ideas about respecting differences without compromising common sense on gender.
- Giving perspective on issues relating to "sexism" and championing men's rights.
- Shedding light on difficult truths about religion, culture and foreign policies.
NOTE THAT VOAT IS NOT JUST ABOUT THESE THINGS, IT'S A SMALL EXAMPLE.
Do you see my point? For some, Voat is just a mouthpiece for simplistic puerility. Voat is actually a great place to have an actual discussion, because of the lack of censorship. Unfortunately, some want to reduce it down to a base level and force everyone else to stay there. The complaints about downvoats lately? Rather hypocritical, since even the slightest moderate opinion on these subjects is usually grounds for a downvoat and the start of a brigade.
Let's actually try some introspection, look at our ideas and decide wether they are worth the drama. For those of you that simply prefer to call names or express actual hatred for certain groups, why don't you just create dedicated subverses? No-one is stopping you from creating a space in which your ideas can be reciprocated - but currently those ideas are flooding out onto every other subverse. Like an army of disgruntled people searching for a fight.
Voat is not just about black people, Jews or women. Voat is about everything - should be about anything - but people need to start exercising some common sense in that. If contrary or more moderate/balanced/evidenced views really offend you, you need your own subverse. Some of us do share your opinions on these and other injustices, but we want to do it without being immature or irrational about it. We don't want to hate all women, for instance, or all black people.
Of course, the most popular posts still win the day - but remember that not everybody is playing your popularity contest.
