That's just it. I'm telling myself the idea has no sway right now, but the very fact that he's proposing the idea is frightening. He has literally only just been elected and he's already talking about dividing a core part of the country against itself (it's capital!). The sad thing is, that Brits have been almost totally disempowered from actually doing anything about it. Even if we wanted to march into London and take over the city, we barely have the rights to make it possible. This sounds much like an invasion from within.

I wonder if there are other British people who feel like I do - that any declaration of London 'independence' comes across as a declaration of 'war' against the rest of England. With Sadiq Khan as the new, personal dictator of London. I mean, it's a war against my birthright. The city does not belong to any politician or political district, it belongs to the people of England.

If London ever did secede, it'd have Sharia law overnight.

Part of me wants it - it would be a huge casus belli for the rest of the world to invade, take it back, and expel all the Muslims. It would also make Muslim jihad undeniable.

Could you rephrase that please? I am confused by what you are trying to say.

My thoughts exactly. I can't even believe this stuff could be within the scope of a mayor's powers - I hope someone sees this thread that can explain what ground he intends to stand on.

His comments on the referendum outcome have generally been negative because he's an intelligent competent adult with London's (and Britain's) best interests at heart.

If sovereignty isn't at the heart of our interests, then it's not our best interest. Period.

If he had Britain's best interests at heart, he wouldn't have spent the first weeks in office emphasising his religion and insulting the potential former United States President.

On a technical level, I wouldn't worry about a "Lonxit". If they try, the most likely scenario is that the government continues on as normal, arrests a few people and heads for the pub. If they for some reason have to take active measures, the English Army moseys on in, arrests a few people and heads for the pub. If Khan somehow blocks the way to the pub, shutting off power, sewage, etc will probably make the city buckle within a few hours.

The real concern is the political impact such a declaration would have. I don't know enough about British politics to even begin to speculate on what that might be.

I'm not from Britain, so I don't know how much weight, if any my opinion carries, but from what I've seen on the news, (not mainstream media bullshit) it looks like Britain pissed off all of the muslims and the New World Order because migration of the rapeugees might come to a halt. They might actually start deporting them. One can only hope.

This is like their last effort for mister mayor turned president king to keep migrating them and their still technically in Britain as far as land goes.

There's actually a plus side to that. All of the muslims would most likely move to the new country and the non-muslims would move out. You would then have them all in one place and completely surrounded. Britain just showed the whole world that they're very tough and the people are sick and tired of of putting up with everybody's crap. Charge huge tariffs for anything coming in or out of the new country and when they become a third world country with Sharia law, just take them out and regain the city that belongs to you.

I agree that Sadiq is an important connection for the Islamists' agenda. I'm not sure how aware of it he is, but he certainly set the tone for his loyalties when he spent his first week in power ranting about the goodness of Islam and trying to take on Donald Trump.

However it seems there is nothing linking him personally to the "London independence" petition at this time. It is a very real idea, but I have no idea if he endorses it. Just thought I should say that for the sake of honesty.
