The nice thing about the dark side is that although it's reprehensible, we can work towards fixing those problems without getting killed for drawing cartoons.

This is as great point. Though part of the benefit of the way the Amish live is the community. They reduce their members individual rights for the sake of the community. Not to say that it's the best way to live, but to be honest there's some times when I look at that and wish I could live that way. Our culture can be a bit isolating if you don't find yourself a group of likeminded people. When it's reinforced like the Amish do then it becomes self perpetuating.
If there's one Christian group that I respect the most, it would likely be the Omish. Despite rejecting most modern technologies, I'd argue they're quite productive.
You should look into the prevalence of incestual sexual abuse among the Amish, then. In reality there are big problems in the Amish society, such as the way young girls are treated.
Meth is also a hell of an issue in many Amish communities, including around Lacaster, PA.
When you don't live near them, you'll never know. Their lives are closely guarded.
The retardation and birth defects directly caused by incest are extraordinary, and
it's only a few decades from becoming an overwhelming problem that forces change
in the communities.
I spent a day in an Amish community when I was 14, and the most vivid memory of the day are the hymns they sing-an oddly moving harmonize of some dialect of German [all men]-and also the curious but stern look on the faces of the children.

What really gets me is the fact that they are honor bound to lie to further spread Islam, but the left are too fucking stupid to understand that.

These are called Taqiyya, or sacred deceptions.
If anybody feels like doing some activist kinda stuff, I made a subreddit just earlier today: v/militantfreedom

I want to become Amish just so I have more opportunities to say "Jakob" with an Amish accent.
Some folks tell me this isn't a great reason...

This sounds like a Dwight Schrute quote. (Though I know it isn't. I'd remember.)

I don't know whether to reevaluate my typed speech, or to feel a sense of superiority over all others.
