You don't need billions to break out of the matrix. Just eat some shrooms in a grassy field at night. Boom, you're outside the box.

Assume for a second that it's true that we live in The Matrix. Billionaires would be the last people trying to break out.

They're winning.

Your thought is also what I thought some time back, but I wouldn't conflate the tech billionaires with billionaires in general or, for instance, Mark Zuckerberg. Many of these people are genuinely interested primarily in a pursuit of knowledge and improving of the human condition. They're playing capitalism like it ideally should be played - money is a means to an end and not the end in and of itself.

About 3 years ago I read an article about a discussion Larry Page, founder of Google, had. The topic of billionaires giving their wealth up to charity before their deaths came up. Page stated he'd rather give his money to Elon Musk than any charity. At the time it made me simply angry. How could one absurdly rich billionaire be so cold as to simply want to give his billions to just another billionaire instead of helping the other 99.999% of Earth. A few years and a lot, a whole lot, of reading and research later - I'd agree 100%. Some things are very counter intuitive.

They don't just want to break out. They want to build their own versions of the matrix to test stuff.

And if they can get one running in which billionaires are running their own versions, it would prove them right. It would indicate we live in a simulation extremely likely.

And when they build their own matrix, they confirm to the researchers running this matrix that they're probably in a matrix, and we get shut down because we're not needed anymore.

We dont live in a simulation. Tech billionaires make money off their matrix. Theyre the ones who need a reality check the most.

Tech billionaires convinced we live in the Matrix are secretly funding scientists to help break us out of it | The Independent

'Some of the world’s richest and most powerful people are convinced that we are living in a computer simulation. '

'That has led some tech billionaires to speculate that the chances we are not living in such a simulation is “billions to one”. '

'And now at least two billionaires are funding scientists in an effort to try and break us out of that simulation. '

'At least two of Silicon Valley’s tech billionaires are pouring money into efforts to break humans out of the simulation that they believe that it is living in, according to a new report. '

'A number of prominent tech billionaires have discussed the idea of the simulation – including Elon Musk, who has used his fortune to fund potentially odd efforts in the past. '

This has been an automated message.

I'm gonna be honest, I only clicked this post because the thumbnail looks like some scantily-clad post-apocalyptic women. I couldn't care less what tech billionaires think.

“The full-on-crazy version of the merge is we get our brains uploaded into the cloud. I’d love that. We need to level up humans, because our descendants will either conquer the galaxy or extinguish consciousness in the universe forever. What a time to be alive!”

Are you fucking kidding me?--if your conciousness could be stored "on the cloud," what is to stop it from getting duplicated by some future a.i. teen hacker, google, or the goverment and/or something/someone sends a copy-and-paste version of your conciousness to hell on facebook live or something.

Also, if we are in "a computer" already how are you going to create a pure duplicate of reality again without leaving room to do it inside of your creation ad infinum?: add a stop loop function? or create an infinate regress that "crashes the system" a while after you start it? Or it would get less and less real to conserve power.

Why simultaneously want to bust out of and create an artificial world. Or duplicate your conciousness: is your "self" just going to hop over to the new one?; what if both existed at once, how then?

P.s. How could it be a fight over our ancestors extinguishing conciousness, if we are in the fucking "Matrix"--pretty sure that job is up to the simulator.

If someone offers heaven on "the cloud" when you are old and about to die...think twice, become amish and give up the ghost like everybody who existed ever: see what happens.

Break out or take over?

my questions is break out into what? if we're digital, there really is no 'out'. it would like be like trying to get music 'out' of a cd.

It doesn't matter. If we're not digital, then take over the world. Breaking out seems pointless. Especially if you signed up for this because you were some rich guy on a deathbed and wanted another life instead of just dying. Think of it like cryogenic freezing with something to keep you entertained until whatever.

On the other hand, if we are digital, they could make themselves immortal, all powerful, gods. Sure beats being a shitty billionaire who's dead and forgotten in 100 years.

How do they know we aren't agents and can't live outside of the simulation?
