What is WebM?
WebM is a royalty-free video file format for use with the HTML5 video tag that aims to reduce bandwidth usage and replace the GIF format.
WebMs load quicker, are supported by most major browsers and can include audio all while having a much smaller file size.

There are a lot of options including using FFMPEG for Windows, Linux and Mac. We suggest starting with Miro Video Converter, an open source tool with a simple user interface to convert movies into the WebM format.
