Yeah I totally I agree with you re the ending - it soured what was otherwise an excellent clip showing the stupidity and self-limiting nature of feminism. couric is so utterly stupid that she thinks a word that describes women (feminism) applies equally to both men's and women's rights. pure doublespeak.

Judy, on the other hand, gracefully spells out how she is human first and female second when it comes to profession. Perhaps this attitude is why she has never been professionally held back - perhaps the men around her at work realise that she does not seek to use any aspect of female-specific soft power - that she refuses to attempt to gain privilege & advantage simply because of her gender. Instead - she uses solely routes of professional progress that are open to men as well ie hard work and integrity. I would say that is why people respect her and not couric.

Yep, totally agree. I can never really trust the content of anything with cuts like this video. It could totally skew the context for all I know!

If more woman were like Judy with an attitude like that instead of the TV presenter, there wouldn't even be a feminist "movement". I doubt anyone has denied her jobs in law, the woman talks plain sense with a great understanding of behaviour.

It marks someone as fucking stupid if all they do is define what they're talking about. That's not a discourse.

This was the best comment for me:

"I think of feminism as being for the social and economic equality of men and women"

Then get out there and work on a garbage truck all week. Try oil rig, oil changing, mining or construction work. Don't confine yourself to working in the offices in these places, being hired for diversity (and marry an affirmative action co-worker)get out there were there are no women. Marry a man who is smaller and weaker than you, to challenge gender roles and make an effort to reduce spousal abuse against women. Marry a man who earns substantially less money than you do, or even less money at all. Get out there and make up for Centuries of inequality. You can do it."

"I believe feminism is the social, political and economice equality for men and women"

Yeah that was a rehersed line. Feminism afvocates for females. So for them to belive in equality for all which is a lie based on the dictionary definition of feminism but i digress. For them to believe in equality for all but only advicating for females they imply that females are always the victims of opression in everything. Otherwise they would be egalitarian by her definition. If men had less rights than a female then feminism by her definition would have to advocate for men to bring about this balance.

So no. I'm not listening to her beyond that bs. Shes either lying or has a very narrow view of what rights men and women have.

So a woman cannot succeed on her own? If she doesn't support womens' empowerment movements then she is, herself, powerless?
