What was before you were born? What world existed?
None.
What world will be when you die?
None.
So you are insignificant? You are all that is, if you would only see. Use this short time well, so other world creators have a better world to work with.
Are we though? Significance maybe shouldn't be equivalent to size. For example: on earth humans are significant to the life and wellness of the Earth. However, bacteria which is so small we cannot see most of them, are extremely significant to the survival of humans, all other animals, and the Earth. I just don't like statements like this. We are part of the universe...a very interesting part.
In terms of size, we are very small, very small indeed, and we are only just seeing planets outside our solar system that could potentially support human life.
That said, our fastest space vehicle would take approx 180,000 years to reach a star 4 light years away, that's 90 times the length of Christianity (for want of a better measure). Any signals our craft sent back would take 4 yrs to be received by earth, and an additional 4 yrs for our craft to receive a reply.
Just think about it, 180,000 years...could humans in that craft even remember that Earth existed, apart from a myth, a fairy tale. How would humans evolve in that time both in the craft and on Earth? Would humans even exist on earth after 180,000 years?
I posted this because few, if any, can actually comprehend the SIZE of space. I know I cannot

I chose the title because I enjoy discussion
