I like that perspective, but it's also how one could speculate that since these crafts defy the laws of physics sometimes-- perhaps because they are not exactly in this dimension-- that they're in fact alien spacecraft and humanity's collective ignorance of them is a feature for our development or for their benefit, or both.

Agreed. Always be running parallel lines of reasoning for the other possibilities, and don't throw them out just because one conclusion seems definite. At the very least the other ones are interesting and a good exercise of neutral rationality and being flexible in thinking.
