I think she found real feminism.

From the video -

If feminism means standing up for women's position in society, then I'm a feminist. But if it means women are the strongest and against men, then I'm not a feminist.

Edit: Sorry, didn't mention who said it. It was the leader of the "warrior women" group.

Yup, like what the heck right?

Milène Larsson: Would you call yourself a feminist?

Katerina Tarnovska: If feminism means standing up for women's position in society, then I'm a feminist. But if it means women are the strongest and against men, then I'm not a feminist. Yes I am strong, but in a relationship, when I'm with a man, it's important to show my weakness.

Milène Larsson then went on to say "It was all a bit confusing, so we consulted a sociologist who specializes in "Ukrainan" femnism to see what she makes of the Asgarda."

Milène Larsson then had this as her closing statement: "I had hoped to find a mystical warrior tribe fighting for womyn's rights in an oppresive Orthodox society. But the reality was far from that. Sure, the Asgarda teching village girls self-defence and to stay away from abusive addicts. But all the swords and empowerment, is really just a way of attracting strong women, and teaching them to support men. And to continue the lineage of Ukranian patriachy, by breeding a new generation of Ukranian warriors."

What the heck, I don't think the interviewer Milène wants or is fighting for egalitarianism, I think she wants Womyn's Superiority or Womyn Supremacy. I don't know what to make of it that she's a Managing Editor in Vice

Ah but it didn't take the form that she herself would be comfortable with, thus it's not feminism!

You're choice is only real if you choose what I choose.

Further evidence that feminism is more of a religion than it is a sociological theory. It's got ideology, dogma, and unquestionable beliefs, and when confronted with contradictory evidence they don't question their theories and adapt to better fit the observable reality--they censor the material and socially shame and ostracize the messenger who brought it to their attention.

I think a lot of the outspoken internet "Feminist" try to parade a faux strength by virtue of being a woman. In reality, strength is based in the individual. Strength and power are genderless. To me a true feminist or "masculist" would recognize the strength of a person regardless of gender and not attempt to discriminate the other based solely on gender.

Exactly. These are definitely feminists. The problem is that the girl "reporter" thinks, like most western "feminists", that female supremacy is "real feminism". They're so loud and obnoxious about it that most non-feminists think that's what it is, too. Teaching women to be confident physically, spiritually, and socially... that's real feminism.

Sidenote: I think that's what a lot of people dislike about America overall. We just assume that since McDonald's is(was, a long time ago) good, then obviously everyone else wants a McDonald's/Walmart/democracy.

Seriously, how could anyone bash what they're doing? They're trying to raise up generations of clean, hard-working people who are capable of defending themselves. Given Ukraine's history and current situation, that's what the country really needs right now. Sure, they're Christian, and somewhat traditionalist, but in what way are these girls subject to men? They show a tremendous amount of respect for equal rights, and demand just as much out of their men as they demand from themselves, in a society where alcoholism is rampant. In what way is demanding more from men anti-feminist?

Well... extreme feminism isn't really equality

its about an exploitation of power through gender. Then those who are more moderate want to say, "no no no, we're really feminists, we just want equality to level the playing field", which is still respectable but predominately a feminine view point and does little to help male issues and predisposes a mentality "well guys still have it better than girls".

I tried to use the term humanist once to put a name to my perspective but got berated for not knowing it was a religion? So maybe I'm a realist, I don't fucking know. True equality is when you can treat someone as a person regardless of the color of the skin or tool between their legs. It also is the lack of an entitlement gained from being a specific gender or race. I don't believe I've been given anything for being male. And I certainly don't like male standards in society. I respect honor, virtue, and genuine action. But for fucks sake people need to understand that equality is shared struggle, not shared entitlement. That is bullshit.

Thanks for the time stamp. That made it possible to watch just enough to glimpse the culture without all the political BS.

And when I heard the phrase "I had hoped to find a mystical warrior" I just stopped. But seriously, hoping to find some magical pagan warrior tribe is some Wonder Woman crap. It's all fine in a superhero comic, but it's not practical or realistic. And this Ukrainian group is entirely practical and grounded in a history of conflict and hardship.

Today's feminism is the only modern movement I can think of where the following is true: feminists could walk into the middle of one of the remaining matriarchal societies in Africa, and still find a way to argue it's the victim of The PatriarchyTM

It was fun imagining the internal struggle taking place in her mind throughout this "report", as she attempted to reconcile what she was seeing, with her pre-conceived notion that all women must be vulnerable victims, requiring feminism to protect them.

Most of my friends and I share the same ideals; I have a feeling a lot of women do, but the vocal few who scream "true feminism" (but isn't really feminism) are much louder.

The negative tone the reporter had at the end just killed me. I'm not sure what is so horrible about wanting to be a strong woman, but still be a mother and wife. These women are badasses!

As a man I don't see what's wrong with wanting to do something that only your sex can do. I mean, wantingto do it and doing it doesn't make you more or less of a person, they don't make you weaker or stronger or better or worse etc, they simply make you... Your sex.

Feminism makes no God damn sense. If all women followed their bullshit, humanity would die in about 80-100 years because apparently procreation is patriarchal control or some nonsense.

I don't know why she's angry. The women seem safe. She seems to have a religion based around fear and hatred of men.

Exactly. Also, why be upset when those women seemed so happy? Seems to me that if women don't think like her, she gets upset.

She has a very traditional way of looking at the world. She champions her community and her nation and wants them to remember their shared culture. I don't think that's "eerie". There's a large gap between "promoting traditional values" and "gas the Jews race war now" or "Deus vult burn the heathens".
