YES! That's it. Of course, you'll need a convolver. Usually software, but there are some hardware units out there too.

Here's an old but free convolver for the mac that works surprisingly well. I've been very pleased with its quality. Though I don't know how well it works on Yosemite.

Works in both logic and garageband. Though there are much better commercial convolvers out there.

And Audacity has a GPL'd convolver called GVerb that I haven't tried.

Great! I do have a couple that I can use and some good freeware plugins are always nice to have. I was just looking at the voxengo website and they seem to have some great tools for this also. Convolution Tools

Voxengo has a free impulse pack you can download too. I think it comes bundled with one of their VSTs. Or maybe you d/l it directly. I'll dig around.
