Big cats with long, sharp claws and teeth, faster than people when in motion... Seems obvious there should be a sign telling you to not expose yourself to that.

How can you tell they are French? Clothing?

This was also posted on Reddit, and someone who claimed to previously work at the safari park was saying that they have warning's in French.

On second viewing I believe you are correct. There are at least four people in the car. Looks like another female is driving and then the three that exit the car. It explains why the old male runs for the passenger seat. It appears “Darwin mom” probably yelled for he older son to get in the car (or he naturally fled) and she luckily made the correct choice to face the animals.

If you read the comments on the video there are a bunch of people mad at the person filming. Again, leftists never blame themselves and want someone else to save them.

Notice the cheetah in the center of the group- the moment the kid steps into view, you can see a dramatic change in its resting posture. From that moment on, it's stalking that child. See, big cats tend to go for the weaklings of a group of prey. This means the sick, injured, or very young. Seeing that small human means "Lunch".

I'd also like to point out these fucks have zero situational awareness, even when standing outside of the vehicle maybe 25 feet away from a group of the fastest land predators on earth. The man spends more time looking down at his damned phone than he does watching the potential predators.

Why blows my mind is: why would you walk away that far from your car.. You're not supposed to get out and if you do.. Why so fucking far away from safety?

My best guess is that several generations have been raised with Disney and other shit with anthropomorphized animals. These idiots didn't look at that group of cheetahs and think "That's a group of ferocious predators that could be on top of me before I can blink"; no, they look at them and see Simba from the Lion King. They truly believe they're friendly.

As a species we are generally so safe from nature, that we almost forget that it can kill you at any moment. And these people are French, so they're probably arrogant to the point that they think "those cheetahs don't have the right to snack on moi".

You are totally correct. Make yourself seem larger when faced with such a threat. Of course, first avoid such a threat, but it could happen if you are out hiking.

Yes, I was wondering how quickly it could have made it to the car. It probably could have done it in one or two steps.

The fact that they walked and actually faced them is the only reason the woman and kid are still alive. If they had turned and tried to run the cheetah would have tackled and mauled them. The kid would have most certainly been dragged away.

I can only guess that that is an inherited trait that saved their ancestors in the past. It seems to have been watered down, though.

She actually did everything right to get the cheetah under control. You face the animal and make yourself big and threatening so that the instinct to attack disappears.

If you've heard any street interviews lately, where reporters ask questions of random people they meet on the street, you will know that a large percentage of the population today is totally clueless -- and by clueless, I mean so retarded that when it rains, they look up in surprise with their mouths open at the raindrops hitting their heads, and drown.

I had a similar thought while watching. What I honed in on was the lack of situational awareness. The man spent more time looking down at his camera/phone than he spent looking at the large group of giant cats that can run 70 mph. Our ancestors would be stunned by how little time we spend observing our surroundings today, even when there are obvious threats in the immediate area.

So is it less bad parenting that they slapped the cheetah so the kid could get in the car?

Edit: fuck, people, can't you tell what's a joke anymore?
