Most States maintain their Indian names. Most Indians died of diseases we couldn't have known about before germ theory. Indians negotiated and traded with settlers peacefully. They err instrumental in the mapping of America, in exchange they got horses, blankets, weapons, and medicine. Those who fought against settlers fought dirty and lost. It's like paying reperations to losers of the Superbowl. It doesn't make any sense.

Womp womp, won a war

Many Sioux believed that if they practiced the Ghost Dance and rejected the ways of the white man, the gods would create the world anew and destroy all non-believers, including non-Indians.

Whatever the motives, the massacre ended the Ghost Dance movement and was the last major confrontation in America’s deadly war against the Plains Indians.

There were 44 frontier conflicts 22000, European men women and children were killed and 35000 or so Native men women and children. Until as late as 1905 bands of natives upwards of 200 would roam the countryside trapping hunting and fishing. They would camp outside of town and trade with the populace. 80 percent of their population was destroyed by various diseases, famine and tribal conflict. Also as a side note they had many slaves rarely mentioned are the slaves who traveled the trail of tears, or that Oklahoma then Indian territory split north and south and fought their own mini Civil War.
