Diseases and malnutrition. A member of my family (Polish) survived Auschwitz, he only weighted 35kg. Germans had problems feeding their own people why would they care about prisonners?

I've heard a lot of unlikely stories from US WWII veterans.

This is one of those. There were no pows at Auschwitz. Also, I have never heard any allegations of Western POWs being mistreated. Russians were not upheld to the same standard since they announced that they would not uphold international agreements for the treatment of POWs.

I'm sure if any allied POWs had even been slightly mistreated we would hear more about it because they would use it to justify all the German POWs that they killed in the immediate aftermath of the war!

Well if Allies didn't bomb roads (and also Dresden, for shits and giggles) to shit, they wouldn't have problems with transporting resources.

When he Russians got to Auschwitz they found the camp empty. In other words everyone got on their own two feet and left.
