  1. Fuck Vox. Over exaggerations and they're videos are usually liberal/communist garbage.

  2. We have those here in Indiana. My grandfather still occasionally sings, "Way Down Yonder in the Paw paw Patch"

  3. Pawpaws really don't taste as bad as Vox makes them seem. When you have hiked 4+ hours in the heat of summer, a Pawpaw is amazing. There are also numerous recipes online that makes Pawpaws more palatable for some people.

  4. Regarding the claims that Paw paw trees almost completely eradicated, and the great exaggerations of Vox; has the Paw paw tree been affected? Absolutely. Are they rare? Hell no. They grow like weeds in Southern Indiana and the hilly regions of Kentucky. When I lived near Chicago, I was told that rural Illinois still has a large population as well. Drive down a highway in Indiana or Kentucky, and you will see tons of Paw paw trees. I would hazard to guess that Paw paws have been most effected by farming. The vast farm fields have destroyed forested areas.

  5. The reason they are not sold in stores or shipped across country is because they ripen insanely quick and are easily damaged. From what I have seen, they expire in just a few days. Went hiking on a Monday, and when I returned that Saturday, they were all rotten. There are recipes that can be used to jar the fruit for storage over short periods, never tried it though.

  6. One of the reasons people do not grow them in their back yard is because they LOVE growing in a dense forest. Plant one in full sun and they will shrivel in a matter of hours. My parents have one in their back yard and it is in a cool shaded area. Even though the tree has a decent amount of shade, it still is growing extremely slowly and has yet to bare fruit. They also require the same nutrient rich soil you would find in forests.

I could rant on and on and on about Paw paws but I will leave some information for those interested.

Regarding the fruit having annonacin, think of it like apples. The seeds contain cyanide. You would have to eat a bunch of apples to even begin to see the effects of the cyanide.
